i attempt to drown my sorrows in oil, pathetically
after giving a spectacularly, unbelievably bad phone interview to a talk radio station on the taco truck article, i attempted to inflict my self-nausea via oils, and produced some pretty crappy oils, but not nearly as crappy as the phone interview, and also, it's a private, cathartic mess instead of a public, vocal mess replayed on-air to commuters.

I actually like the bottom one. Very 3-D. In fact, the face is just a great face. The chin, the nose, the cheek -- not the bone part, but the drum part -- the ear, it's just making me happy. You're losing credibility. How do I get my hands on an interview transcript?
The placement of the dark paint on the top one is great. It also has great character. The mouths on both are perfect placement. Your mouths tend to be very good. (and I like the color on the mouth on the bottom one. It looks like it was "gestured" on, as opposed to the rest of the painting, which was carefully applied and scratched out, so you have sort of an intricate cavelike feeling to the rest of it; and then just a swatch--boom! like mouth-swatch! "you are a mouth!" It has a different feel, to me, than the white on the cheek, even though at first glance they seem like similar brushstrokes. The ear IS good. The dark around the face on the upper right also makes me happy.)
I've decided, on further thought, that I do actually like the first one, despite the fact that it looks like K has a malignant cheek tumor stretching off into space.
Megan - you know, it hadn't occured to me at the time, but "intricate cavelike feeling" is a facet of my impression of you. So maybe it was a success. Or maybe it was coincidence.
You do know it's supposed to be you, right?
